These failures of secret service are unacceptable:
An eyewitness interviewed live by the BBC after the attack clearly describes how he and his colleagues saw the gunman climb onto the roof with a gun and how they alerted nearby police officers.
Also, the secret service, whose snipers were on other nearby rooftops, did not take possession of the nearby rooftop where the shooter was located. The shooter was only 120 meters away from Trump when he fired, completely within range of many of the rifles that are available to anyone on the U.S. market.
Moreover, it appears that the alleged shooter, who fired at least four bullets, gained access to the rooftop via a ladder that had not been removed by police or security services. It is unclear whether the ladder was temporarily or permanently attached to the building, but the fact that authorities did not bother to secure a nearby rooftop with an erected or fixed ladder leaves many questions.
