This is what international law says about intercepting the flotilla led by Greta Thunberg to Gaza:
-It is legal to intercept a ship in international waters if it intends to break a legal military blockade.
The question of whether Israel's blockade of Gaza since 2007 is legal or not is more complicated:
After Hamas won the 2007 election, they began to launch many rockets against Israel, and the Jewish state responded with a harsh but not catastrophic blockade, arguing that it was to prevent weapons from falling into the hands of Hamas. What is prohibited is subjecting the civilian population to severe food restrictions that can cause a famine.
However, in recent months, the humanitarian aid that Israel allows into Gaza is 1/6 of what it allowed in before the war and what was considered 'just enough'.
Israel says that the aid of Greta's flotilla can be brought into Gaza via the channels that Israel has dictated, and that it is illegal to bring it into waterways that are part of the blockade.
